Follow these emergency steps in order. If at any point you feel unsafe, evacuate and call for help immediately.

Safety First

If you smell gas, suspect carbon monoxide, or see sparks, evacuate immediately and call 911. Do not attempt to operate your system if you suspect a safety issue.

Turn off the HVAC System to prevent overheating if the pump has stopped

Check if the HVAC System circulating pump is hot to the touch indicating seized bearings

Listen for humming from the HVAC System circulating pump indicating power but no rotation

Tap the HVAC System circulating pump gently with a tool to free a stuck impeller

Call for HVAC System service if the circulating pump does not resume operation
